I recently traveled to New York City to introduce myself to a very talented musician from Ireland. It was the first time visiting America for Hozier, the 24-year-old with a talent and expression of life experience well beyond his years. He handled himself with grace in the midst of some very tough questions for his first national interview. I watched as the nervous wringing of the hands turned into a passionate explanation of his experiences […] Read more »

Washed Out

The music recorded by Ernest Greene as Washed Out has been nothing if not dreamy, but for his second full-length, he’s taken the idea of letting your mind wander to another state a huge leap further. On Paracosm, just released Aug. 13 on Sub Pop, the Georgia-based musician explores the album’s namesake phenomenon, where people create detailed imaginary worlds. The concept has been used to describe fantasy lands like Tolkien’s Middle Earth and C.S. Lewis’ […] Read more »

Although Midlake have been making music since 1999, the new album, Antiphon, has prompted a feature in this week’s Buzz Worthy. I was driving home from work a few weeks back and grabbed some freshly opened CDs to take on the road with me. With a stack of 5, I hit the road. That day and for the next 10, the only CD I listened to was Antiphon.  The jazz influence of the members (who hail […] Read more »

The Wild Feathers

I was introduced to The Wild Feathers a while ago and have since fallen in love with the four piece from Nashville. I saw their performance at The Bluebird in Bloomington, IN recently. They BLEW ME AWAY! Their twitter page describes them as, “They’re like if Led Zeppelin and The Band had a baby in Joshua Tree that grew up listening to Ryan Adams covering the Stones 70′s country influenced songs.” Normally, I don’t appreciate […] Read more »
